Taiwan received maximum of 8,752 Vietnamese workers, followed by Korea with 4,295, Japan with 2,678, UAE with 2,646, Macau with 1,715, Russia with 1,389, Malaysia with 1,257, and other markets with a combined number of 10,703 workers.

An official from the department said that although the effects of global economic crisis seems to be slowing down, however it would be difficult to reach the target of sending 90,000 Vietnamese workers abroad within this year.

To date, over 8,000 Vietnamese workers lost jobs and had to return the homeland prematurely because of the global economic crisis.
