Construction project of Cai Cui Port to be officially started

Can Tho City People's Committee and Vietnam Shipping Line Corp (Vinalines) have officially started the construction project of Cai Cui Port – Phase 2 and logistics area on July 11. The total investment capital was 1.2 trillion dong.
Cai Cui Port – phase 2 will be built on a site of over 37 hectares, two times larger than that of Phase 1. There will be three habours with the length of 500-metres each and modern system for commodity unloading and transporting works with capacity of receiving three 20,000-tonne dwt carriers at the same time.
Vietnam Waterway Construction Corp (Vinawaco) is the main construction contractor. The project is expected to be finished on 2012.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Nguyen Tan Dung, prime minister emphasized that extending Cai Cui Port played an important part in supporting Can Tho City and other provinces in Mekong River Delta to trade and transport goods in domestic and international markets.
