The capacity of VDC's Internet MegaVNN service and its telephone service via the network has decreased by two-fold to 15 Gigabit per second (Gbps) due to the recent earthquake in Taiwan. VDC customers may face slow internet access as internet traffic has to be rerouted to other undersea cables.

FPT Telecom, the telecommunications unit of FPT Group, said damage to a segment of the Asia Pacific Cable Network 2, or APCN2, had slowed internet connections in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. Internet traffic from Hanoi and HCM City to foreign regions has slowed with the speed of internet transmission in HCM City down by30 percent to 2 Gbps.

Domestic internet traffic has been affected. Web surfing and email exchange between domestic Internet Protocol (IP) addresses maintain their normal pace.

VDC and FPT Telecom are joining forces with their international partners to tackle the problem.
