By the middle of 2007, Qantas signed an agreement with State Capital Investment Corp (SCIC) to buy 30 percent stake into Jetstar Pacific with a total value of $50 million (some 890 billion dong) to become Vietnam's carrier's foreign strategic investor. At present, SCIC's holding is 67.46 percent stake into Jetstar Pacific, Saigontourist 5.5 percent and an individual investor, Luong Hoai Nam, 0.04 percent.

The government's Decree 76 issued in May 2007 allowed a foreign investor to hold maximum stake of 30 percent into a local transport firm and a group of foreign investors were allowed to hold 49 percent stake.

According to report of Qantas, its Jetstar Airline Group carries some 13.9 million passengers in 2009, rising 18.8 percent year-on-year. Jetstar also made a record on pre tax profit of AU $137 million (2.049 trillion dong), a year-on-year rise of 18 percent and its revenue was AU$393 million, up 24 percent
