The total length of the city railway will be 12.5 kilometres with 12 stations, four of which are underground stations and the rest of overhead ones along the areas of Nhon, Cau Dien, Mai Dich, the intersection with ring road No 3, Cau Giay, Kim Ma, Giang Vo, Cat Linh, Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi Station (the ending point on Tran Hung Dao St).

At present, the project is in process of finishing all investment procedures.

The estimated investment capital is about 18.408 trillion dong or 783 million euro, in which ODA loans from French government of 250 million euro, French Development Agent of 110 million euro, ADB of 220 million euro, European Bank of 130 million and the rest to be raised from Vietnamese State Budget.
