The Wallonie-Bruxelles International organization has pledged to provide Vietnam with an additional four million euros for cooperative projects between the agency and the Southeast Asian country.
This was announced at the Vietnam-Wallonie-Bruxelles joint committee’s seventh meeting in Hanoi on November 12 in the presence of Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen The Phuong and Director General of Wallonie-Bruxelles Phillipe Suinen.
The meeting aimed to review the implementation of joint projects in the 2007-2009 period and work out a cooperation programme for the 2010-2012 period.
Between 2007 and 2009, Wallonie-Bruxelles provided Vietnam with about 100 scholarships for study and research at Wallonie-Bruxelles and sent 200 experts to Vietnam to teach at and transfer technology to the country’s universities and research institutes.
The two parties agreed to focus their 2010-2020 cooperation on fields such as biological technology, pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, food technology, mechanics and transport-logistics, giving priority to sustainable development, improving human resources, international integration and strengthening institutions.
More than 30 projects are planned for this period.
