The 8-10 lane tramway strengthens12.2 kilometres along East-West Boulevard and by Ben Nghe-Tau Hu canal side, linking the centre of Dist 1 to Dist 5, Dist 6, Binh Tan Dist.

Mac Dang Nop-deputy general director of Phu My BOT Bridge Joint Stock Co (one of the investment partners of this project) said the transport means and technologies including 15 trams for Saigon-Cho Lon-Western Coach Station tramway would be supplied by France's LOHR Industries Co.

The whole tramway line has six stations embedded with big trade centres namely Me Linh Work in Dist 1, Nguyen Van Cu in Dist 5, Dai The Gioi (Great World), Binh Tay and Lo Gom in Dist 6, and Western Coach Station in Binh Tan Dist.

Total cost for the first tramway line is estimated at nearly four trillion dong, invested by Thanh Danh Construction Trading Co Ltd, Phu My BOT Bridge Co, and Malaysia's Titanium Management Co.
