The consumer price index in June also rose an estimated 0.22 percent from May, slowing from a monthly rise of 0.27 percent in the previous month, the radio's news bulletin cited the government's general Statistical Office data as showing.

Falling food prices helped ease price pressures, it quoted the statistics agency as saying.

On June 8 Vietnam cut petrol prices by around 3 percent, the second such reduction in the past two weeks, aimed at taming inflation and boosting economic growth.

"These are good signs to help July CPI avoid any sudden changes," the radio said.

The government is expected to release full inflation data for June later this week.

Last month prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung raised the government's inflation target for this year to 8 percent from 7 percent, and said the central bank will increase liquidity in the economy by boosting money supply.
