Binh Thuan to host 1st int’l hot air balloon fest
The Ministry of Defense has just given approval for the south central province of Binh Thuan to host the first ever international hot air balloon festival in Vietnam to celebrate Vietnam's Liberation Day (April 30).
Titled “1st Binh Thuan International Balloon Festival”, the event, which is being organized by HCMC-based Chien Thang Service Co., Ltd, is scheduled to take place at the hilltop on Tieu Street in Hoa Thang Commune, Bac Binh District, near Mui Ne.
The festival will gather 20 to 30 balloons, which are 20-25 meters tall with a diameter of 16-18 meters, piloted by around 50 balloonists from 30 countries and territories including the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, France and Belgium.
All teams will perform at a height of 150-500 meters during the day and at night. In the night glow performances, the balloons will be decorated with lanterns and perform to a background of rock music.
“Binh Thuan International Balloon Festival” will be held from April 26 to May 1, also to mark the liberation day of the province’s Phan Thiet City (April 19) and International Labor Day.
The organizers hope to make the festival an annual event.
