According to a local media report, Can Tho will install more Wi-Fi spots in Luu Huu Phuoc Park and other places and streets located in the centre of the city.

The city recently installed a free public Internet Wi-Fi service at the Ninh Kieu quay as part of an image-building exercise and to attract more tourists.

The quay, a commercial and tourist spot in the city, has five Wi-Fi units installed at a cost of USD47,600.

The Wi-Fi range is 150 metres, and can serve 250 users for each mobile device.

The Wi-Fi system, sponsored by the city’s Department of Information and Communications, was installed by the Saigon Post Corporation in late December 2014.

Since the beginning of January until now, about 4,000 persons have used the Wi-Fi service daily.

Can Tho is the seventh city in the country to provide free public Wi-Fi in public areas, after northern and central tourist destinations, such as Tam Dao town, Hoi An and Hue cities.

It is the fourth largest city in Vietnam, and the largest city in the Mekong Delta.
