HCMC opens airport bus link
A new bus route connecting Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and downtown districts opened last week.
Tuoi Tre News reported route no 109 that links the airport to 23/9 Park is run by the Southern Airport Transportation Joint Stock Company (Satsco) in coordination with the municipal Department of Transport.
The project required an investment capital of USD897,200.
Six buses ply the route every 15 to 20 minutes between 0530 and 0130. Buses have a maximum capacity for 70 passengers (standing and seated).
The fare is USD0.9 for journeys over 5 km and USD0.54 for those under 5 km. The entire journey takes approximately 45 minutes, the report said.

From Tan Son Nhat International Airport to the downtown area: International Terminal → Domestic Terminal → Truong Son → Tran Quoc Hoan → Lang Cha Ca Roundabout → Hoang Van Thu → Nguyen Van Troi → Nam Ky Khoi Nghia → Nguyen Dinh Chieu → Cach Mang Thang Tam → Pham Hong Thai → Le Lai → Ben Thanh Roundabout → Ben Thanh Bus Station → Pham Ngu Lao → 23/9 Park.
From the city centre to Tan Son Nhat International Airport: 23/9 Park → Le Lai → Ben Thanh Roundabout → Pham Ngu Lao → Yersin → Tran Hung Dao → Ben Thanh Bus Station → Le Loi → Pasteur → Vo Thi Sau → Nam Ky Khoi Nghia → Nguyen Van Troi → Phan Dinh Giot → Truong Son → Domestic Terminal → Truong Son → International Terminal.
Buses are equipped with the latest safety features to comply with international standards. They serve mainly airport workers and budget travellers.
Last year, the city welcomed 4.6 million foreign visitors and 19.3 million domestic tourists, up 4.6% and 13% year-on-year, respectively.
Tourism earnings reached over USD 4.1 billion, a 10% increase year-on-year, the report said.
The US, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Australia, Russia, Singapore and France are among the city’s leading tourism supply markets.
