Hanoi to add airport buses
Vietnam’s Prime Minister has given the green light for Hanoi to start three new bus routes connecting the city centre to Noi Bai International Airport.
Vietnam Net Bridge reported that the Hanoi Department of Transport will supervise the establishment of the three new bus routes. There are already two airport link bus services.
The additional three routes will be sub-contracted to reliable transport companies, without any state subsidiaries as they will serve mainly international travellers.
Currently, there are just two bus routes from Hanoi centre to the Noi Bai Airport and they are usually packed with travellers.
Ho Chi Minh City has just launched a new bus route from the city centre to Tan Son Nhat International Airport to serve tourists.
This year, Hanoi is expected to attract up to 21.2 million domestic and international tourists up 6.95% from last year.
The performance will be dominated by domestic travel at around 17.4 million, but the Vietnamese capital is fast becoming a popular vacation spot for foreigners and it is likely 3.8 million will visit the city this year.
Both markets should generate an estimated USD2.68 billion in tourism revenue up 8.11% from last year.
