Donors pledge aid to Vietnam but warn of corruption

Hanoi - Foreign donors Wednesday pledged nearly 8 billion dollars in official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam next year, the same level as in 2010.

Donors pledge more aid as Vietnam grows richer

Foreign donors Friday pledged over 8 billion dollars in official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam next year, compared with 5 billion dollars for 2009. The rise in aid, announced at the annual Consultative Group meeting of donors in Hanoi, comes as Vietnam's economy is growing at the rate of 5%.

Japan to provide ODA of $ 1.5 billion to Vietnam

Japanese government has decided to provide a total ODA of $1.5 billion to Vietnam in the fiscal year of 2009, exceeding $1.1 billion of 2007. Tuoi Tre had a talk with Japanese ambassador to Vietnam, Mitsuo Sakaba about the decision.

Difficulty in accessing information of ODA projects

The latest survey made by Concetti - Consulting and Research Co for Technology Transfer in conjunction with Ministry of Planning and Investment and departments of seven provinces and cities (including Lao Cai, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Nghe An, HCM City, Can Tho and Soc Trang) showed many difficulties in accessing information relating to ODA projects.
