Le ministère des Affaires étrangères a réitéré au Viêt-nam, hier, la revendication de souveraineté de Taipei sur l’île de Taiping, la principale de l’archipel des Spartley située en mer de Chine méridionale. La déclaration intervient après que les médias vietnamiens ont qualifié les manœuvres militaires que compte conduire Taiwan dans la zone de violation de la souveraineté du Viêt-nam sur l’île.

Taiwan claims sovereignty over two archipelagoes in the South China Sea. They are the Spratlys and Pratas, with troops being stationed on an island of each archipelago. The Spratly Island where some 100 Coast Guardsmen are deployed is known as Taiping Island, or “Peace Island,” though it isn’t quite peaceful any more.
