Factory fire kills 17, injures 25 in north Vietnam

Seventeen people have been killed and 25 others injured in a fire that broke out in a leather footwear factory in the northern city of Hai Phong Friday.

Vietnamese workers end strike after Taiwan company hikes wages

Hanoi - About 1,300 employees at a Taiwan-owned footwear factory in northern Vietnam returned to work Wednesday after the company agreed to increase their monthly salary.

Canada imposes anti-dumping investigation on Vietnam’s rubber soled shoes

The Shoe Manufacturers Association of Canada (SMAC) has filed a complaint with Canada’s export supervision agency, demanding an investigation into the prices of waterproof rubber-soled shoes imported from Vietnam and China.

EU removes Vietnam from footwear tariff preferences

HANOI - The European Union is removing Vietnam's footwear industry from a preferential tariffs programme for exports to the bloc after deciding the sector had become one of the most competitive in the world, officials said on Friday.
