HANOI—Vietnam's gross domestic product growth is likely to decelerate to 5.9% this year as the country has been focused on taming inflation, the government said on Friday.
Vietnam's consumer price index (CPI) in 2011 rose 18.12 percent after it skyrocketed 0.53 percent in December, local newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong (The Labourer) reported, citing minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh at a meeting on December 22 between the government and provinces on 2012 socio-economic development tasks and state budget.
