Vietnam rice exports may top record by 20pct this year

Rice exports from Vietnam, the world's second-biggest shipper, may exceed the previous record by 20 percent this year, even as the total value of exports is forecast to drop.

Exciting period for rice export likely from now to 2010

At the press meeting of Vietnam Food Association (VFA) yesterday in HCM City, Nguyen Tho Tri vice chair of VFA spoke that after Philippines opened the bid for importing 250,000 tonnes of 25 percent broken rice, the world's rice prices established a new band.

Vietnam signs to export 5.632m tonnes of rice till August

Till August 27, Vietnam signed to export 5.632 million tonnes of rice, up 66.58 percent year-on-year but the export value only reached $1.834 billion, down 3.64 percent, reported Vietnam Food Association (VFA).

Vietnam plans to export 5.5m tonnes of rice in 2009

Vietnam plans to export 5.5 million tonnes of rice in 2009, increasing 500,000 tonnes against last year, according to Vietnam Food Association (VFA)'s report. Within the first six months, Vietnam has signed contracts to deliver 3.7 million tonnes.

Vietnam rice exports soar to record

Vietnam exported about 700,000 tonnes of rice in April, a record since the country started exporting rice 20 years ago, thanks to an abundant winter-spring crop, the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) said Monday.

Indonesia-Vietnam rice deal

JAKARTA - Inodonesia has an option to buy about 1 million tonnes of rice from Vietnam in the next three years if it needs to build up rice stocks and ensure domestic food security, Trade Minister Mari Pangestu said on Sunday.
